I am a huge fan of the amazing output of Paulding Farnham, Tiffany's silver (and jewerly) designer extraordinaire. I am curious if anyone might be able to suggest a public collection, museum or gallery where one could see his work on exhibit? I would also be very interested to learn of any personal stories regarding him as I am completed baffled as to why he turned his back so completely on his craft following his sudden departure from Tiffany and Co. in 1907-08.

Hi!

Welcome to the forum!

To start, perhaps a great book for you might be "Paulding Farnham Tiffany's Lost Genius" by John Loring. I believe it is available through many book sellers.

Also our Tiffany expert William Hood may be able to assist you further, (as may our other Forum Moderators), they're all great.

Enjoy the day!

Would also recommend that you read Janet Zapata's two-part article on "The Rediscovery of Paulding Farnham" that appeared in the March and April 1991 issues of The Magazine Antiques.

Farnham's works are scattered in many museums; don't know of a large collection in any one place.

Both the High Museum in Atlanta and my own Newark Museum in NJ have jeweled coffee sets designed by Farnham (see this image attached). The High's version is gilt, with amethysts and lavender enamel. The greatest example of his work (he was a jewelry designer) is the Adams Vase at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
