[01-0422] I need help identifying the pattern name of this serving spoon. I am calling it Gorham Japanese, but I am not sure if this is correct!! Please help! It is 8 5/8" long. There is a bird holding a stem and flower. The top of the spoon has a pagoda shape and chrysanthemum. The underside is marked with the old trademark of Gorham Silversmiths Sterling and then there is a 5 point star (age mark?). Thanks for any help you can give me!!! Helen Nicholas IP: Logged |

Yes. Your spoon is Gorham's Japanese pattern. It is a multi-motif pattern, meaning there are variations to the handles. IP: Logged |

Thanks for confirming my guess on the name Japanese!! I could not find it in Gorham's 1888 catalog. Does anyone know which year the pattern was introduced or which catalog it appears in? Thanks for all your help, IP: Logged |

The Japanese pattern was introduced (entered first in Gorham's costing ledger) on June 17, 1871. IP: Logged |
