I just bought a set of Shreve sterling. I have looked on replacements and they do not show the pattern. It is all beaded at the edge with a small upward point on the rounded end. No pictures yet. Any Ideas? Lainey

Lainey,
Ichecked the literature that we have at ONC and found just one picture of a pattern that appears to be very close to what you describe. It is listed as"Old Dominion". The picture was quite small, but this may help you in your search. I don't know whether anyone is left at Shreve & Co. in San Francisco, the store, who can help, but that might be worth a try. Also, check listings of antique dealers in the Bay area who carry silver. Also, as worth a try, contact Beverly Bremer's Silver Shop in Atlanta. She has a replacement service and deals mostly in estate silver. Geoff Blake

This sounds like the popular "Bead" pattern, which was produced for many decades in the 19th & 20th centuries by several different makers. I think that Shreve and Co. probably only retailed your set, rather than made it. Check the silver to see if there are other marks, such as symbols, that might indicate the maker.
