[01-1631]

I have found a sterling silver show several years ago and am wonder who made it and how old it is.

The marks on the heel are a cross, anchor and G encircled. It also says sterling and has the number B2124 with a scissor mark.

Does anyone what these marks are?
I have not found any answers yet.

After a few hours of browsing silver marks on the internet I have determined that this piece is Gorham Holloware 1907, possibly one of a kind special order. The first marking is hard to make out, however the second and third marks match Gorham perfectly, and so do the scissors. If there are any Gorham experts out there I would appreciate some information! The shoe is apx. 1" tall and 2.5" long, hollow ware.

Hi there,

Without seeing a picture, it sounds like your deductions about the maker and year are correct. Not sure about it being a one-of-a kind. I imagine one the forums' Gorham experts can look up the pattern number. Your piece might be a pincushion without its stuffing, little shoes were a very popular form.

A pincushion that lost it's stuffing you say? LOL
I found the item in a Cedar tree about 18 years ago. Perhaps a child placed it there.
Now I am off to have a look at the rest of the silver about the house!

I actually own one of these, it's quite heavy for its size. I'd post a photo but I'm not sure of its whereabouts at the moment.
