Greetings,

I've a question regarding a salt shaker I just bought. On the bottom it says

    Sterling
    Columbia
    weighted
    44
It also has 1521 engraved off to the side.

Could anyone tell me what weighted means or any other info one might have?

Thanks
smile

Weighted normally means it is made from paper thin sheets of silver and then the interior space is filled with cement or resin or such to give it weight and strength. It is a way for companies to offer silver products at much lower prices than solid silver would otherwise cost.
