I am showing the collar of an antique silver overlay perfume bottle. The only markings are the word STERLING and to its right what appears to be a fish with its tongue? sticking out. It is very worn, hence the not-too-great quality of the picture. If someone thinks it might help to see the whole bottle, I will post an image. Given the recommended pixel limitations for posting, I am not sure how much information that will convey. In any case, I await your input.

Now that I got the image thing straightened out (Thanks, Scott!), I decided I might as well show the bottle. The bottom, with the oval links of overlay, looks very Gorham-y to me, but, as I have noted, the only marks are those on the collar.

It is a beautiful piece. My understanding is that generally overlay can not be confirmed by maker. It could be Gorham. Or it could be anyone of a number of makers. Or it could have been made up for the glass company by a jeweler. These seem to be rather a mystery area.

I can't make out the fish marking in your photo. Is is possible to get a clearer one? Gorham used a fish as a date mark for things they made in 1912, but I'm not sure I've seen these on silver overlay glass.

Kimo, that was a good try, but I know what the Gorham date mark looks like (from a drawing), and it is not the same as this one. Also, not having seen that mark in person, I can't say for sure, but my guess is that it would be smaller. I appreciate your input. The picture I am showing is the best I could get because the mark is worn, but one obvious difference is the thing that appears to be a tongue -- which the Gorham mark does not have.
