Shiebler demitasse spoons in a c. 1880s multi-motif pattern. Anyone recognize it? Partially twisted handles, with slightly wonky, hammered-looking ends that have plants or creatures on them. I like the irregular cropping of the images. Marked with the Shiebler winged S and STERLING.

The images seem to me to be (top photo, left to right):
chestnut leaf, cherries with leaf, mistletoe, bamboo, two starfish legs, two other starfish legs.

Gee, just when you thought you had seen it all. We have never seen that Shiebler pattern. They are really cute.

Thanks, June! I guess the seller's description of the pattern as "RARE" was accurate for once.

I poked around on the web and found lots of examples of Shiebler items with applied starfish and botanical items, but no other examples of this pattern.

I really wonder what the other 6 look like! I assume there must be 6 others, since most multimotif patterns came in sets of 12.

I just spotted a set of 8 of these for sale online (for a price I'm not willing to pay). The set of 8 has two designs that overlap with my set and 6 new designs, so now I've seen what I expect is all 12 of the spoons. The new patterns all depict various plants (what looks to me like palm leaves, cherry leaves with cherries, an asian-looking pine, something lobed like a maple leaf or maybe ivy, and a couple generic-looking types of foliage).

Interestingly, one of the patterns the set of 8 shares with mine is positioned slightly differently on the end of their spoon than it is on mine. I wonder what that says about how the pattern was created--I assume it was struck on a die, since it does not seem to have been soldered on.

I won't include a link, since the set is currently for sale.

Scott and June steered me in the direction of six more! Thank you, Scott & June!! Here are my whole set:

And here are the new six (except for the second from the right, which is one of the old ones--it snuck into the photo somehow, changing places with one of the new ones):

Thank you! I was thinking that last photo was a little blurry, actually.
