I have a an older silver sewing set in it's original box. It consists of a thimble, scissors, & a needle holder. It has a nice design, each piece has two separate tiny stamped marks. One stamp is 835 with a rosette-like design above it, the second stamp is an "A" by itself. The thimble has in large letters on the band "Lembranca" I don't know if this is someones name or? The center has a curly que design also.
What countries used 835 in silver? Anyone know where is may have been made?
Thanks.

The name sounds Portuguese to me, but beyond that I haven't a clue. There must be a good, basic reference on Continental silver standards and marks, but I don't have it here in Newark.
