I have just purchased a silver candy dish with a glass insert, the silver base has the following mark: First square a dragon head, Second square a "C", third square a dragon tail, can anyone ID this?

This is mysterious to me. Is it sterling or plate? (Sounds like a plate mark, psuedo hallmark--but I don't know). Any help out there in cyber-silver land?

Pappy -

Can you post (or e-mail) photos of the marks and item?

I haven't seen many dragons lately - heads or tails, but I wonder if this might be Cromwell Plate Co. Their mark has a crescent in the center "square" plus something fantastic in a "square" to the left and to the right.

That sounds pretty similar, it could be a crescent, any idea about a web-site about this co.?
