kicker326 unregistered	posted 02-21-2001 11:30 AM Hi, I was wondering if you could help me, I got this old handmade silver dish from a late u.s. brig. General. It has four old silver reals in the bottom from 1618 to 1807 I know info on the coins but I need help with the smith marks. There are 3 of them that are stamped in the metal. star with a dot in the center Hard to see but it looks like a guy standing next to a flame or with a bow. Has "lo" with a little unclear symbol under it. Any ideas where this may be from. Thank you very much. Scott IP: Logged
kicker unregistered	posted 02-22-2001 03:03 PM Update on the marks that may help. 1st mark is a 5 point star coloring book style outline, hole in the center and the fingers of the star. 2nd mark unconnected loop with 2 lines on the right side of the loop with an upside down "v" under it. 3rd mark is circle of peddles octagonin the center with "LO" and a symbol of a fish under it. Thank you for everyone's help. It is very hard to get clear pictures of these marks even with a magnifying glass on my camera lens. IP: Logged

Perhaps you can, in addition to the picture of the actual marks, also send a picture of a drawing of the marks, with black ink on white paper.
