Can someone identify this piece? Glass candy dish unscrews from silver base that then seems to be a candleholder. Base is marked Revere Silversmiths Inc with horse inside a triangular shield. Below that "sterling" and the number 313. What is the estimated worth for a piece like this, please?
Thanking you in advance,
Dina

Revere Silversmiths, Inc. was founded in 1914 in Brooklyn, NY and operated until 1955, when it became part of Crown Silver, Inc. They seemed to specialize in inexpensive sterling table articles like weighted candlesticks. Is you piece very heavy? If it is, and the base is not hollow, then it is probably filled with cement. These pieces are quite common, and were affordable when new due to the low amount of actual silver used.

We do not give valuations in these forums, but I can tell you that your piece has mostly decorator value. It is it in good condition, with no dents or fractures, it has a little value as just a nice table accessory. If it has any damage, I'm afraid it will be worth very little and would not be worth repairing. I hope this helps you out.

Thanks, Brent. There is no damage and I would say the piece is not overly heavy. I bought a candlestick that is weighted with cement so I understand what you mean. Don't think this one is, though. It will make a nice gift for a friend and now I have more information to share with her. Thanks very much!
