I have two pieces of silver that I cant find any information on. They both have Wallace 17 on the bottomThe design is of grapes and fruit and leaves. I would like to know if it is worth anything. The platter is 20 1/2 inches in diameter and the punch bowl is 15 inches in diameter. If you have any info please email me at[ snip .... Welcome to the Forums. Thanks for registering.

It would help us if you would post (or e-mail me) a closeup of the marks. With the photos of the marks (& of the items) we might be able to better identify the maker and provide an estimate on a date of manufacturer. Are they marked sterling or EP or EPNS? Is the design of "grapes/fruit/leaves" engraved or bright cut or repousse?

Have you tried the Silver Salon Search function?
For example this is from a prior posts:

  • Wallace Bros., Co. Wallingford, CT
    quote:

...... For some additional company information, the following paragraph comes from Rainwater:

"In July 1875, Robert Wallace with his sons...and sons-in-law...formed a co-partnership under the name of Wallace Brothers for the manufacture of silverplated flatware on a base of cast steel. Manufacture of silverplated hollowware also began at this time."

Hope this is informative & helps you out a little.
