Could someone suggest a reference for identifying a pattern "pat. 1914" by EHH Smith (I think - marked "<S>") and wholesaled by L. Barth & Son, New York. Other markings, on various pieces of the set include "hotel plate" and "extra sec(?". Any general info about Smith or Barth would also be greatly appreciated.

E. H. H. Smith were in Bridgeport, and first show up in 1907, but were probably in business a few years earlier. The specialized in high end plated cutlery--hence the hotel plate you note. Hotel silver needed to be heavily plated because of the use it got. The name disappeared in 1919, replaced by Albert Pick Co. (as per Rainwater). Barth was likely a hotel and restaurant supplier in NYC.
