I recently purchased a tea set (Pitcher, creamer and sugar bowl with lid) That has the F.B. Rogers mark, with a 1883 date stamp, crown and Silver on Copper stamped on the bottom. All are in good shape with the exception of a small dent in pitcher and a little wear on the lid of the sugar bowl.
Are these in fact from 1883, and are they possibly worth anything, or did I buy another dust catcher?

As far as I know the 1883 mark is part of their trademark. The "Silver on Copper" is a clue that this set is from the 20th century, when they referred to old Sheffield plate (which was fused not electroplated). In the 19th century no one plated over copper, because it showed when the plating wore. There is certainly a market for plated tea sets, but condition is very important. The little dent and the slight wear are far greater problems than they would be on sterling or even on 19th-century plate. But if the set is stylist and usable, it would readily find a home. Museums may not legally discuss values on objects, but there are other ways to find this kind of information out--such as on eBay.
