I have never seen a Japanese style bell; and this Gorham example of the 1880s or 90s featured acid-etched decoration, with complete manga-like Japanese landscapes with figures. Wonderful rare little object, and something we can use in the Ballantine House.

Here's the mark:

    Incuse Lion-Anchor-G inside bell, above STERLING above 316 with further mark, possibly a date letter. Possibly 1889 mark, but hard to read.
