The following link will only be available for a short time. It is a circa 1940 motion picture about Arranging the Tea Table . Viewing time approximately 8 minuets.

Also the "star" is June but it is not my June. wink

Thank you for this, Scott. I really enjoyed it. I suppose this is an old home ec film; in this day and age it seems an odd topic to teach in school, but it would have been a very useful one in it's day.

Thanks so much for posting this! So much fun to see. As a veteran of many, many teas, I have to say that people (OK, women) often are intimidated at the prospect of hosting a tea, but as this film makes clear, what seems to be arcane ritual is really all about attention to the guests. Bite-size tea sandwiches have their purpose. I don't know what people are thinking when they put out hearty half-sandwiches that no one can manage while standing with a cup of tea.

The film leaves out what used to be a staple of teas in Salem, Massachusetts: the discreet cruet or pitcher with white rum...for what was called "Salem tea." (!) (It was a port city......)
