Hi guys,

I found this strange spoon. The markings are what looks like:

T&S- WHAT LOOKS LIKE AND ANCHOR BUT COULD BE A FLOWER, A LION AND A CAPITAL E.
I would like to get a sort of date on it?
Any ideas?

Thanks
Gavin

Cheers
Gavin

Thanks Scott

Shock Horror it looks like the spoon dates back to 1778 if the silver mines web it is any thing to go by? I thought it was 1930s, I'm all confused . But I must say what turned out to be a something I picked up to sell has turned into a real interesting journey thanks to your highly entertaining web site.

Thank you

OK nobody loves me. That's OK I'm a grown lad and I can handle it.

There's something odd about this spoon. I can't quite imagine that it was made in 1778 surely it would be a lot more worn than it is?

yours,
Gavin

You might want to check with the United Grand Lodge of England (English Freemasonry) about this souvenir spoon.

There is a Brotherhood Lodge #3967 which is part of the North Blackpool Group

Thank so much Mr. Scott Martin, you are a man among men. I feel I am in some Conan Doyle novel, I can't remember when I had so much fun (sounds quite sad). I am now going to become a silver hunter extraordinaire again, thank you.

Yours
Gavin

Hello Scott,

ha ha I think I got a little over excited with my investigations, and after reading the story about the hotel sugar bowl I do NOT want to encourage the wrath of the SMP crew.

The spoon turns out to be made in 1928 (only 240 years out, not bad) I've changed it on ebay, again thank you for your kindness.

Regards
Gavin

Have a great sliver Christmas
