Thank you in advance for teh Help. Marked Sterling Silver as well as 925R the R is rather stylized and then a Passant style Loin. Well Made art nouveau style with a Shield full of symbols of the front. Thank you again for the Info and Happy Fourth!

Nice piece of Canadian jewelry. The mark is for Roden Brothers of Toronto. They were founded in 1891 and worked until the late 1950's, when they were purchased by Birks, another major Canadian silver manufacturer.

I am not sure what the coat of arms is, but it will probably tell you what the piece was made for. It might be a military piece.

I think it could be more of a souvenir piece of jewelry than a military piece. Sometimes these also are enameled, and one sees various crests and coats of arms (on this one, you can see how the brooch itself was made without the crest, and the desired crest was simply inserted). Stickpins and sash pins are most often seen. The crests also appear on Canadian souvenir spoons sometimes. This brooch is probably c. 1900-1920.
