Does anyone know a metal smith with the name “TEMMING” or “BY TEMMING”?
We have seen Jewelry and other smalls in both copper and silver.

Hello June!
Try looking for a Martin Koop Temming Art Studio, Saranac Lake NY, 1950's or so.
Hope this helps.

Jersey,

Curious where you made this discovery? I have searched in a great many places and never found any information on this prolific jeweler. The designs are simple and well excecuted in copper or sterling silver. I have not seen much more than jewelry. Is Temming an active craftsman?

Hi Fred!
I just kept tooling around till I got this info. I went to my favorite search engine & that unmentionable auction site & kept typing in handwrought, silver, silversmiths, & "all that jazz". Then after gleaning what I could, kept going till I found the info. Sometimes my head just wants to burst. Finally just a lucky hit I guess. I love doing research. My kids always say "Mom's on a quest", & I then become a pit bull!
Sometimes you win, sometimes I quit & go back later when my head clears.
The info I found did not indicate living or dead....so far.
BTW Your work is Great.......wish I owned a piece, maybe someday........
Enjoy the Day & Love what you are doing!
Have fun! That's important!

The place on the Internet which Jersey sites might be correct even though they don’t say how they know. There is another site with a photo History of Saranac Lake, NY which includes this image:

It's been over a decade since I was up at Saranac, but I don't remember it there then (of course I might have just missed it). Actually haven't seen much of their work in the region.

I didn't actually get to the part about the jewelry business, but the town has a great site. Wish every town had something like it. Thanks, Jersey.
