I haven't been able to find anything about this mark-it's on a candy compote from the 40's-50's.

Sorry, there's nothing like this that I've come across so far. Are there other letters in the heart along with what looks like a "C?"

In this period, marks frequently are related to the method of selling not the maker. It was not unheard of for candy makers to order up a large number of items from silver manufacturers complete with the candy makers own mark. They would then be sold filled with candy for special events. A picture of the whole piece might let us link it to some known examples with different marks.

Cream of Wheat cereal company never made silverware even though pieces with that name appear on the market. The usual suspect is Oneida. Tho Poole and Empire are also in the group.
