We have some very generous good friends, who are also collectors and they know we appreciate a good mystery. When we saw them last they gave a gift of a handsome fish motif silver bookend marked GRIFFO.

We don't know GRIFFO, does anyone?

I don't recognize Griffo, but I do recognize wonderful, generous friends with a great eye! Love it!

I tried the internet again this morning... nothing comes up. And the ephemera I was able to look at turned up nothing.....

This remains a mystery.

I was also hoping my search would reveal the matching bookend.

Hello Scott.
Just a thought re your bookend.
It seems to me that the letters are spaced too far apart & they are not in a straight line, perhaps they were struct with individual steel dies. Also, maybe a semi-professional or a very talented amateur participating in an American Crafts Council or similar show. It is a great piece. I like it.
Did you friends tell you where they acquired it. Can you ask?

They found it at a flea market.

I like it also and would love to find another.
