Arthur Stone created a wide range of beautiful silver objects. Many of us are familiar with his chased bowls, trays, tea sets, vases, candlesticks, boxes, and flatware. Stone also produced miniature silver objects, first for Howard and Company, and later under his own mark. While these are fairly scarce, some great examples appear in Chickering's "Arthur J. Stone" book as well as Falino's "Silver of the Americas, 1600-2000" (which details the pieces in the MFA collection).

Here's a miniature chair, designed by Stone and made by David Carlson. A similar one with Stone's initials is in the MFA, which also has a miniature Stone tea caddy, candle snuffer, toast rack, tankard, pitcher, and several porringers. These were marketed by Howard as toys (lucky kids!) and were probably sold to adult collectors as well.

Thanks so much for sharing this Stone example.

I have never seen an example from Howard.

Might someone have a list from Howard/Stone of what miniatures might have been made?

There's a Howard miniature chair on the MFA site here:

The MFA has the marks switched on their site.

The Howard mark is here:

The two books mentioned above have a brief discussion of the Howard miniatures, but I've never seen a comprehensive list.

Okay, one more Stone miniature, a porringer, next to the chair. These tiny things are jewel-like in person.
