I have plans to pick up a new piece for my collection tomorrow. It's a baby fork marked "Richard Blanchard"

(I'll add pictures when I am able)

Does anybody know definitively if this particular mark was used in California? And perhaps a definite date range for this particular mark?

Thanks in advance!

in Porter Blanchard/David Carlson?? Help?:

Just a few additions and clarifications:

3.) The G on your Blanchard-marked spoon is quite interesting. According to a recent article about Richard Blanchard in Silver magazine, we know that Richard, when producing things in his brother Porter's shop, would sometimes mark his work with an R. We also know that father George Blanchard continued to work in the shop after effective control of the enterprise had been passed to Porter. It seems likely that the G stamp indicates a piece made by George Blanchard.

Here it is:

Can anyone confirm if this mark was only used in California?

And did he have other smiths working in his shop? (Like Arthur Stone) Or was this piece made by Richard Blanchard himself?

I don't know.
The only California reference to "Richard Blanchard" I stumbled upon was to "Richard Bogardus 'Red' Blanchard" who I think was his son.

I hoping someone else can shed of some light. Perhaps Randy Stromsoe might know?
