The mark was used for the various partnerships formed by James Edgar (1812-1887), William Bliss (1821-1889), and Sedgwick Swift (1815-1884)Brinsmaid. James is generally given credit as the principle partner in the various companies. James' sons, Sedgwick Swift ( 1857-?) and Frederick Thomas (1855-?) were also jewelers and silversmiths, but worked on their own until the death of their father.

The Bee psuedo mark is a lovely touch.
