I have a silver ornate small beveled mirror 2 1/2" with S&F. 297 marked along the side rim. Could this be Schultz & Fischer?

Possible, but unlikely -- even on very small goods the firm used their mark based on the California state seal. Without seeing the mark, it's hard to say, but there are several other candidates -- Felder & Smith of Albany or Spier & Forsheim of NYC, both of whom made or retailed plated novelties and jewelery.

Can you post an picture of the piece and mark?
