I can't find the town, date or maker on this small (5") ladle. I also don't know what it was used for. I'll appreciate any help.

Your ladle is not British, but American. The pseudohallmarks are probably for a New York manufacturer; the initial mark is probably for Baldwin Gardiner, who would have been the retailer.

In terms of its use, it is a mustard ladle (also sometimes referred to as a condiment ladle). It's a nice example.

Belden suggests that Baldwin Gardiner was a silversmith. He worked in New York from 1827 - 46 (and was the brother of the better known silversmith Sidney Gardiner with whom he worked in Philadelphia from 1811 - 27.) By 1835 he was B.Gardiner (no longer B.G), so your mustard ladle was made between 1827 and 1835 in New York. Very nice example.
