I have been trying to identify the maker of this spoon. The maker mark is very worn and not photographable, but it is a WH, without dots between. There are a few makers who used this mark, so I hope someone might be able to narrow it down based on the style and the bright cut design.

Those WH's are a tricky lot. Did you look at the versions on the W page of Initial Marks on my site? Any help?

I did, and it was helpful in excluding a lot of makers. It looks very much like the mark of William Holmes, but his years seem a bit early for the style of the spoon, which I thought was turn of 19th century. Am I off on that?

Wm. Homes (Holmes), Jr. worked until 1825, and used one or more of the same punches used by his father. This spoon dates from the 1785-1815 period, well within his working dates.
