vathek Posts: 966 Registered: Jun 99	posted 01-17-2006 02:00 PM [19-0593] I have tried to locate this maker without success. The mark is worn and I cannot make out the first initial but the last name looks like Fitch. The sheaf of wheat psuedo hallmark is interesting. IP: Logged
ahwt Posts: 2334 Registered: Mar 2003	posted 01-17-2006 05:27 PM Robert Alan Green in his book "Marks of American Silversmiths" shows the mark of a James Fitch of Auburn, N.Y. The mark he shows has a sheaf of wheat. Sheafs of wheat were common in upstate NY. The actual mark that he shows is "JFITCH" "AUBURN" both set within a rectangle. I should have added that the working dates for Mr. Fitch are 1816-26. IP: Logged
