Does anyone have an opinion as to the authenticity of the Revere salt spoon just auctioned off on that west coast auction site? I thought it looked reasonably authentic but without actually seeing it(plus the fact that I have seen only perhaps a dozen authenticated pieces). Also keeping in mind that I was not able to hold them up close. Museums are really picky about that.
It would be nice of the buyer if he let others know whether he has it professionally authenticated.

Hello!
I don't know if we are talking about the same spoon. The one that I saw that recently sold marked PR , is that the one?IMHO I felt it was the mark of Paul Revere ll.

The July/August 2005 issue of Silver Magazine reported the results of an auction of "Silver Flatware by Paul Revere" of twelve spoons and one sugar tongs. This lot only realized $1,200. From low price and from the picture of the items I would assume that the bidders thought that the items were not by Paul Revere.
