vathek Posts: 966 Registered: Jun 99	posted 11-01-2008 12:23 PM A coin silver pastry fork marked WWW in a shield and the word coin. The mark doesn't exactly look like a retailers mark but I'm not sure. Any thoughts appreciated. IP: Logged

bascall Posts: 1629 Registered: Nov 99	posted 11-01-2008 09:22 PM The one Charles Wendell who was a jeweler that I can find in Chicago was born in Prussia 1831. His youngest daughter was born in New York in 1859, so he probably wasn't in Chicago until some time after that. His sons did become wholesale jewelers though, but not before at least the 1870's.
