Another interesting bit about the Maine jeweler Isaac Allard taken from the U S Federal Census's is that he was with his wife's family in Belfast, Maine in 1870. Isaac's father in law was the jeweler Timothy Chase. Isaac's wife was Mary Eleanor Chase who was born on 26 May 1824 in Belfast, Maine.

Belfast, Maine Vital Statistics records indicate that Isaac Allard Sr died 7 November 1864 and Isaac Allard Jr died 1 April 1884.

An example of how much we've changed since 1837 comes from an 1877 book by Joseph Williamson titled History Of The City Of Belfast In The State Of Maine. President Jackson had determined to leave the nation debt free when he left office, and at the end of his second term there was a surplus of five million dollars. It was decided to return the money to the citizens of the United States. Selectman were authorized to cause a new census to be taken. Isaac Allard was selected to take the census of Belfast. He found the whole number to be 3,908. It was determined that the city's share of the money would be distributed per capita, and each citizen received $3.33.
