[26-1918]

Good evening,
Since my last post I have been able to identify the makers for the coin silver pieces in my collection except for one. It is a pair of salt spoons that are stamped "N STODDARD" all in caps on the back. The are no other markings. I have searched the forum and a number of online sources to determine whether this is a retailer or silversmith. I found an Elisha Mason Stoddard from Connecticut but that is the only silversmith with this surname. Can anyone help me a id this mark and the location where it was produced? Thanks.

There is a directory listing for a New York jeweler by the name of Noah Stoddard in 1839. It would help to see a picture of the spoon and of the mark to see whether or not it fits this area and period stylistically.

Thank you for your reply. Here are two images. I think it conforms to the period.

After receiving you post I searched and found this link on another forum that shows his hallmark. Irish American Spoon?

The link refers to page 49 of McGrew's book

Thanks again for your help
