I am looking for information on the Edward Ball Co., N.Y., that is listed in Rainwater and Fuller as a sterling silver manufacturer. Their mark was the latters 'EB' within a small circle.

When were they active? What retailers did they use? Do any catalogues survive?

Just an idea...

Could the Edward Ball Co have been founded by George Edward Ball, son of Charles Ball, a silversmith who emigrated from England in 1891, and older brother of Percy Ball?

All worked for a time with Gorham.

George Edward Ball later worked with Tiffany's in New York, and lectured on silver at the Metropolitan Museum.

There are a quantity of notes related to a history of the Shaw family at: [<gone from the internet> uwm.edu/~schuck/shaw/notes.html]uwm.edu/~schuck/shaw/notes.html

Thanks. The George Edward Ball theory is as good as any right now. His connections with the Metropolitan and Tiffany's are consistent with the "of N.Y." in Rainwater and Fuller.
