I have a Wood & Hughes spoon (mark dates it from 1871-1899) and it has a retailer's mark of Brennan & Davis.

Any information on the retailer would be appreciated,

The only reference I find is a listing of BRENNAN & DAVIS of Bradford PA, authorised agents for Spaulding Baseball Goods in
Spalding's Baseball Guide and Official League Book for 1889

Hmm-that doesn't seem to be a likely mix with Wood & Hughes silver, but you never know!

I came across this reference for Montpelier, Idaho:
"City of Montpelier Walking Tours, including the actual site where Butch Cassidy and his gang ran off with $7,165, the Burgoyone Cafe, where two bandits were shot and killed during a gun battle, and the Brennan-Davis building, where wet blankets were put on the windows to preserve the structure during a fire in 1905; all other stores in town burned down at that time."

This is a revived post.

John R Brennan and Moroni J Davis were likely late nineteenth and definitely early twentieth century Montpelier, ID merchants dealing in merchandise and stationary. In their situation fancy goods were probably part of their inventory. John R Brennan was born in New York in August of 1857 to Irish parents. Moroni Jefferson Davis was born in Idaho on 24 September 1864.

What a good catch Patrick Vyvyan!

It looks like Patrick Vyvyan stopped actively participating in the forum in 2005. There are a lot of excellent posts under that name. What a shame.
