A Kentucky racing ewer trophy set a record price for a single piece of silver earlier this year. Another trophy by George Stewart similar to this was pictured on the cover of "Silversmiths of Kentucky, 1785-1900" by Marquis Boultinghouse. Another Steward ewer trophy has recently been talked about and this one pictures cows instead of horses. In Kentucky horses may be more desirable, but I know many that love cows.

I believe the one that recently sold at auction was first purchase at the large west coast auction for a minor amount.

A close up is shown of the handle:

The crowd of people watching the race:

Stewart was great at creating horses, but the faces in the crowd are spooky. Maybe it is just because it is Halloween time, but they have a ghost like appearance to me.

Had the same feeling about the faces in the crowd, but what a fabulous piece!
