![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [26-2704] Hello, I have read about this confusing company on this site and a few other places. My spoons mark is quite worn, but it is not encircled and does not say "co." The prior owner made some deep gashes in it. It seems to be a consistent color underneath. I know there's quite a lot of back and forth, I was wondering if I could determine anything by the weight of this? Thanks for reading, IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This thread on Hall and Elton (Hall & Elton products) should be of interest to you if you have not already spotted it. I am not sure if weight will tell you much. Almost all of the Hall and Elton I have seen is made from some form of white metal. Sometimes I have seen silver plated spoons and the one you have looks like on of these with some of the silver worn off. The Hall and Elton Company appears to have been very successful as they were in business from 1837 until 1890 and then they were acquired by another company. After several owners they became part of the International Silver Co. White metal alloys varied through the years and varied from manufacturer to manufacturer, but in some forms had the real appearance of silver. However, most of the time it is pretty easy to see the difference with silver. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes, I had read that thread, but you explained it better than the understanding I had taken away from the conversation. Thank you Ahwt. IP: Logged |
