![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It appears that my site has been now been reactivated after a year and a month of truly depressive darkness. Scott -- it looks like the Rootsweb pathways have all remained the same, so links on these pages should work again. If you find issues, let me know. My apologies to you all for having to abide this facet of my life's madness. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fabulous news!!! So glad, wev, that both you and the site are back. "you don't know what you've got till it's gone" -- We all knew that you had created something remarkable.....but it wasn't until it was gone that it became clear that this extraordinary achievement has become the very foundation for so much scholarly research. Welcome home! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() At the urging of my wife, who says she has no intention of putting up with my scowling depression ever again, I now have an actual website to house my little project: My old pages on Rootsweb will remain as they are for now, but I will not bother updating them further. As you poke around the place, I would appreciate hearing of any bad links, missing images, etc that need fixing -- there were 50,000+ pages to fiddle with and I am sure I missed something somewhere (I always do). My heartfelt thanks to our hosts here for hosting this small asylum for the silver-addled. And remember, there's always plenty of soup, but you have to bring your own spoon. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() WEV's AmericanSilversmiths.org is new to search engines so there won't be much until the crawlers discovery the 50,000 files at AmericanSilversmiths.org. I'd like to help WEV get more noticed in search engines..... Now that WEV's site AmericanSilversmiths.org is hosted on our SMP server he & I will be reviewing what can be done with the HTML to improve search engine results. You can help as well. This is going to be counter intuitive ... WEV's done an excellent job creating indexes but when you want to find something on AmericanSilversmiths.org don't start with the indexes. Instead do a search engine site specific search of AmericanSilversmiths.org like: Doing things this way will clue the search engines into user interest. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This is excellent news! Even though this subforum is probably most appropriate for this announcement, perhaps you'd consider posting a version of it in the General section for maximum visibility. And maybe a Letter to the Editor or some sort of notice in Silver magazine? Wev -- I don't think one person (i.e. you) can possibly know how much your efforts and this research mean to so many people. Scott -- thanks so much for making this happen! IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Wev, thank you for your perseverance and longevity to get this to the incredible volume you have achieved! Is it helpful to point out missing smiths both old and new? Is there a way to do this that would save you time/work? As an example Margaret Craver (new). Do you want 20th c. smiths? I’m assuming only dead? IP: Logged |
