In reference to an old post by Paul Lemieux Troublesome spoon? I had found a spoon stamped Munro and thought I had found the answer to the maker of my spoon. But I have since seen ads for silver by John Monro of Charleston and Columbia SC. The mark on my spoon is identical to the one shown on a site which I'm not posting so as not to violate rules, but here are some pics. Dates given are 1785-1809. Title should have read "So.Carolina"

That is one of the marks shown in Burton and Ripley for John Munro.

John Munro of South Carolina retired in 1810 and I wonder if such a defined shoulder would have be made at this time.

I suspect the Burton and Ripley picked up a mark by the Canadian Munro by mistake.
