![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This pair of salt cellars were retailed by Bishop and Rein of New York City. They had a Jewelry shop “Under” the Fifth Ave. Hotel and advertised in Harper’s Weekly. No makers name is on the cellars, but to me they have a look of something Wood and Hughes may have made. Rosettes replace what normally would be faces for medallion silver. I brought these years ago and have always been amazed that the spoons stayed with the cellar. I think they would date from the 1860s to the 1870s. IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Love these. Oh for a time machine! (And a lot of vaccinations and antibiotics, and period clothing, and a bag full of gold bullion...) IP: Logged |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Polly you would enjoy Outlander. Clair Fraser, the female lead, magically goes from the 1940s to the mid-18th century through a unique time machine and she even takes some penicillin along. A blacksmith fashions family silver into a wedding ring and bags of gold and other treasures wonderfully appear at just the right time. The production also has the best period clothing that I have seen in a long time; not only for the 18th century, but also for the 1940s and 1950s. Set designers with the right budget can really transport one to a different time. [This message has been edited by ahwt (edited 10-12-2020).] IP: Logged |
