As a member of the New York Silver Society, I have the opportunity to attend an event at the New York Yacht Club where the history of the Wave Cup will be presented. The cup was made by William Gale Sr. and awarded in 1835 to commemorate the yacht called The Wave which won first prize in the first yacht race in the United States to be covered by the press. The history of the cup and how it was re-discovered in 2023 is an amazing story thanks to researcher, R. Steven Tsuchiya.
