Little (8 cm x 5 cm) cigarette case with hidden tinder cord and match compartment with separate striker plate , in silver (875/1000)gildet. After closer inspection and some cleaning of the dirt and grease everywhere, the big surprise: the thumb piece is divided and opens a second compartment, concieling a little frame with a foto of an unknown woman - wife, girlfriend or relative. The case was made in Moscow 1885 by Ignatij Pawlowitsch Sazikov, a Moscow/ St. Petersburg jewelry firm. The title of Court Manufacturer of silver items was granted to I. P. Sazikov by Emperor Nicholas I in 1837. The firm was one of the best in Russia, received many awards (including the grand prize of Moscow Exibition 1882), co-operated with designers and sculptors, also used foreign technology and foreign jewelry equipment (the first mashine for guilloche was imported from France in 1843).
