I purchased a blackened silver water pitcher with a flower design on the handle and four legs. After a quick cleaning I found a stamp on the bottom: Sheridan with 3 stamps, a crown, an "S", and a coat of arms. Does anyone know what this stamp means?

The Sheridan Silver company of Taunton, Massachusetts began in 1944 as C & C Silver Co and was incorporated in 1946. The produced only silver plated holloware. The crown and shield are just part of the Sheridan maker's mark. The S stands for the name of the company.... This was all gleaned from Dorthy Rainwater's "Encyclopedia of American Silver Mnufacturers".
