I picked up a silver creamer at a flea market and am curious about its origins. On the bottom are stamped:
THE SHELBURNE MCo
a star inside a circle
E P
03559 (poorly aligned)
8 OZ
half of what was probably a bird with outstretched wings
The stamp in the middle of the base (just under MCo) is illegible.

There is also a full armorial on the side. The field is surmounted by a gules X; the supporters are pegasus rampant or rearing. Above the shield there seems to be a pillow (no tassels) and a duke's coronet or cap above that.

Any information or links to searchable sites on armorials (searchable by piece, not by surname) or silver would be appreciated.

The "E P" would indicate that it is silverplate. Your description of the marks seems to suggest an American, Canadian, or English origin. "Co" could stand for "Company". "8 OZ" is probably the capacity of the creamer. The 03559 is a piece number. These kinds of marks, as well as birds and stars, were used by makers in all of these countries. However, I can't find a silverplate maker in any of those countries with Shelburne in the name.

Can you could post a photo of the item and a closeup photo of the marks? A better answer concerning the possible origin might be possible.
