I have 10" baskey marked Meriden's Silver Plate quadruple plate. Am seeking info on date of origin and any relevant history? Thank you.

There were two different marks used by the Meriden (not "Meriden's") Silver Plate Co. that contained the words "Quadruple Plate". They were both circular marks, one with a standing lion holding a vase, the other with a horse. Both faced left.

The company was founded in 1869 in Meriden, CT and became part of the International Silver Co. in 1898.

It is not possible to date this piece based on the mark. The two circular marks were used for an unknown period of time. International Silver came up with a mark in 1921 (the "half circle" trademark) that contained the names of both companies, but it is possible that the circular marks were still used after 1921. If you can describe the baskey or post a photo it might be possible to date the piece based on the style.

P.S. What is a baskey?
