Here I have another piece of silver with an unfamiliar mark. I have a tendency to buy unusual pieces of silver. Most of my things are sterling, but if it is unusual in silverplate I will buy it. As a budding collector I am so excited to find this site as there are always questions that I have, but no one knowlegable enough to give me an answer. Anyway back to my piece It is a round tray with typical victorian embellishments on the front ( swags, bows) on the back are three shields and a right facing eagle's head. in the shields are the letters W S G. below the marks are the numbers 793. Can You help? Thanks

Well, again it sounds like English Victorian silverplate, although I can't match up the mark with anyone in particular. It may also be American or Canadian, although I can't find anything that matches there either. It doesn't sound like a mark for solid silver, regardless. Anyone else want to take a stab at this?

We look forward to seeing some pictures, when you get your system squared away! A picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to marks.
