The attached photos show these sugar tongs that have me obssesed with their origins.I feel they are American Pseudo-Hallmarks,maybe for the Pennsylvania Dutch.
Some think they are Dutch from the 1800's;while still others sugest French Napoleonic.I have spent the last three months positively spellbound with this peice, but cannot rest till I have a positive I.D.Can anyone there please help.
Thank you.

Your marks are almost certainly those of an English silverplate firm. They appear to read "A ? & Co." {Crown}{Eagle}. The crown often appears on English silverplate, it being the old town mark for Sheffield where many of the silverplaters were located. The "& Co." is also a giveaway, as you will only find "& Co." in an English speaking country. Although I am afraid I can't identify the actual manufacturer, I am 99% certain your tongs are English silverplate, probably mid to late 1800's.

Couldn't find the mark in Wyler's Book of Sheffield Plate.

Although I couldn't find your mark, I'd guess that the town of origin for your plated tongs is Birmingham, since I've found several similar-style marks from there in Turner, particularly the sideways shield with a device in it. One mark, that of Alfred Browett, even contained a crown in the same position as yours.
