I have a set of six silver spoons made in London, England. They are stamped "James Walker London" A1. They are in the original box, with the logo "James Walker, Ltd. The London Jewellers" printed inside the lid in gold letters. Does anyone know if they are actually sterling silver or silver plated?

Hello,

Your spoons are silverplate. A1 is a designation of quality found only on silverplate. If your spoons were English sterling, they would be marked with a lion passant (basically a lion standing, facing right, with one paw raised). There would also be a date letter and a maker's mark.

I hope this helps!
