Have recently purchased a set of salt&pepper shakers that has silver or silver plate for the lid and bottom. The bottom is marked with the letters...SPCo this are intertwined and the SPC is capital with the o lowercase. Also on the bottom is the number 79 and the word lafrance reg and is also stamped with...made in the USA? Anyone know the age or the maker of these? Would greatly appreciate any information.
thank you,
Sherry

Boy, those marks sound familiar, but I just can't place them. The S P Co would be the maker, and LaFrance is likely the name of the pattern. They definitely sound like mid-20th century silverplate, perhaps 1940s-1960s. That would be about when silver manufacturers really began to stamp pieces with the pattern name.

If they were Sterling and made in the USA, you would have a STERLING stamp on there somewhere.

I hope this helps!
