I am researching a Meriden Teapot that was handed down to me. It measures slightly over 9" tall, with a flip-top lid. The bottom is stamped

Made and Guaranteed by
(has Meriden mark with scales)
Meriden B. Company
2027
U.S.A.

I would appreciate any information you may find on this piece. It appears quite old, but is not in excellent shape. It has the initials "TMS" or "FMS" engraved on the body of the pot.

Thank you in advance for your assistance,
DPC

It was made:
  • by the Meriden Britannia Co. of Meriden, Connecticut.
  • of white metal electroplated with silver (no star on the mark with the scales).
  • after 1895 (when MB started using the "Made and Guaranteed..." mark).
  • no later than the 1930s (when use of the MB marks was discontinued by International Silver).

More precise dating might be possible based on the style of the teapot. Hope this helps!
