I have a set of four goblets, they appear to be silver. the only marking is g. silver. Anybody able to tell me what this means. Thanks

It sounds like another bit of subterfuge to suggest that the item has some silver content. The items are probably made of "German Silver" which is an alloy principally of copper, zinc and nickel. During WWI, the expression "Nickel Silver" became more popular.
